I'll be 18 months this Christmas...

wow, 18 months now! one and a half year already! Glad I can celebrate it in Jakarta and Bandung during Christmas and New Year's Eve. I've been drinking Pediasure lately since my prolong diarrhea, and my parents decide to give me another brand of formula this time round. Nutricia, Enfagrow, Gain Plus...guess the last brand is considered okay to me since it's not as sweet as others.
I fall asleep very fast in both cities, that makes my parents wonder a lot. Hahaha, maybe because I love to sleep surrounded by many pillows.

Sweety 17

Horaayyyy! 17 months old today! I eat solid food much better now while in the playground or seeing people passing by, since I find eating at home is so boring nowadays. Having diarrhea for 14 days, whew that's horrible! Have seen 4 different doctors, stool sent to lab, only to find virus as the culprit. Or could it be because of missing Grandma?

Food Fights - 16!

Wow, only 11 days after my mom's birthday, I turn 16 months old. Guess I've made my mom older indeed by having food fights with her lately. No matter what my parents persuade me to eat, I always turn my up my nose and the mealtime soon becomes a battle of wills. I want to feed myself though I haven't got the skill on using the utensils. I even become very angry when the grown-ups try to sneak in bites. Seems that now I am a truly toddler!
With all references my parents got on hand, they let me various kinds of finger food hourly and my taste buds take control on how much I eat. In the end, I only eat a very small amount. That's why they introduce Pediasure during my milk time with hope I can still have complete nutrition.
Only a few days ago, my grandma (currently visiting me) took me to the playground and feed me. I didn't mind about it at all!

Terrific 15!

wow wow wow,I'm 15 months old now! Have been drinking milk from the Combi straw cup consistently and get more diluted version from the bottle afterward. My mom adds cow's milk, yogurt or cheese in my cereal if I drink milk less than usual. So far so good.
One of my molar at the lower part is completely emerged. Strangely, two molars at the upper side are still "under progress".

Fondue 14

14 months now!Yipeee...though still having diarrhea (cured a week later:updated). Good news is I enjoy drinking milk from straw cup after a week without milk at all, though still need my Avent bottle milk and teat at the end.
Got 2 canines coming out and 2 molars with more visible proof (all on the upper side). I did became fussy sometimes during these days, but my parents still can tolerate with it.

Diarrhea!

Oh, no! I'm having diarrhea! 7 times in a day. My Papa found out that I pooped all over my body and the mattress too (my parents', to be exact) around 5 am today. Luckily, Papa can have half day leave to help my Mom at home. I guess she's quite stressful handling my fussiness all over the day, refusing any food and vomiting too. I see two different doctor and finally rush to KK hospital on the third day, since none of the medicine from the first doctor can help me stop running to the loo. Basically, they believe the diarrhea will stop by itself within a week or 2 weeks (wakss!). Mine is about 6 days with 3-4 times watery stools, and once on the 7th day.

Monday The 13

doo bee doo...I'm 13 months now!
I have mee sua or rice vermicelli for lunch time nowadays.

Mom bought me many different types of straw cup with hope I can say goodbye to my Avent teat. Well, what I can say is it does really need patience to get to it since I don't quite favor straw cup so much, at the most I can finish is only half of the cup and that can be considered as very good of me of doing that ^-^.
Well, wish me luck (again) next month!

Dentist oh My

visiting National Dental Center on July 1st. Wow, sounds very serious, huh? Well, I was referred to one of the dentist there when I was only 2 weeks old because of my first tooth, so my Ma decided to come back to her again.
And...I passed with flying colors this time! I was encouraged to drink milk from straw cup which my Mom had initially introduced it to me since I turned 1 year old.
Wish me luck to succeed this new transition!

One in the Million!

Hurray, I'm one year old kid now! Not so small baby anymore! Walk, walk, walk..every way I walk with new speed (thanks to Playskool vehicle Uncle Hendra gave me!). Today I have 2 jabs: pneumoccocal and chicken pox.
I only take a nap for 1-2 hours stretch nowadays. At night, I sleep at 8 pm and wake up around 7 am plus in the morning. (though I still cry at 5 am to be posted in my parent's bed!) I still have 3 bottles of milk in a day with 3 meals with greater amount. I love having new variety of food, yummy...
I even love my Elmo birthday cake!

Sweet Eleven

Got another lower incisor! Thank God it only took one night to see it visually. Well that means it didn't take long period of sleepless nights...
My upper incisor is showing its existence even more as well.

I can stand for a few seconds by now, and love walking to reach my Pa's hands.

I can even climb the couch!

Top 4 Incisors

Great news, everyone! I have additional teeth only a week after I turned 10 months! My appetite is still good though, compares to last time. Consider I have 4 new teeth, though 2 of them only appear a bit.

Top Ten

10 months now! Phew, finally I can sit on my own...well not for a long time, but it's a great achievement everyone's been waiting for!
I can drink using a straw now. Here's how my mom teaches me to do it: put the straw in the drink and put your finger over the top of the straw (so the water will stay in the straw), take the straw out of the cup, put the bottom of the straw in baby's mouth and take your finger off the top of the straw. It works, indeed! Thanks to yahoo answers.

9 Months on Cloud Nine

I've been progressing favorably. My sleep pattern and mealtime have been going on schedule smoothly. I can sleep from 8 pm to 5.30 am now with 1 or 2 night waking. Around 4 am, I usually awake and my Pa or Ma will put me in their bed and soon I get busy moving around the bed until I finally doze off.

I have solid food for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday and have been eating well with greater amount than before. I've been introduced to silver fish, tofu, green beans, chicken, pork and I love them all!

Still can not sit on my own (sigh..) but I can sit on my highchair. I stay there every mealtime, that means 3 times a day now.

I've been imitating 'Spiderman Style' for some time now, from a wall to another wall, wardrobe to wardrobe, etc.

Oh ya, my 'baby talk' is also improving as shown in this video...

Awesome 8

Today I'm 8 months old! Can not sit on my own yet (hik hik hik!), but I can crawl faster than before! To the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, oh my....that means I've been crawlin g everywhere!

Ever since Chinese New Year, I have always ended up sleeping on my tummy. And my cot is not spacious enough for me, that's why I prefer to sleep on my parents' bed every morning.

oh, one more thing, no more night feeding, hurray!!!!

Craving for FOOD

Rice porridge, mashed potato, carrot, sweet potato, spinach, avocado, peach, nectarine, pear, hmmm....quite familiar with them now. But one thing I enjoy the most is having my rice rusk!

7 up !

This Jan 21, 2008 I turned 7 months old. Got my second incisor already, that makes two bottom front teeth now. Still haven't got the ability to sit without support, but I continue learning to crawl, and even climb! I can make bubbles too! I bite everything within my reach, keeps on saying "pa pa" while doing casual conversation with my mom and dad. Love you, Pa!

Sleep Training

Day 1: It was 8 pm, my bedtime. As I became drowsy, my mom put me directly in the crib. As predicted, I got very upset and screamed loudly. But my mom didn't pick me up right away, she only pat my back. And when I really fussed, my mom picked me up and put me back into the crib once I settled down. And it went about 40 minutes, I finally slept without hesitation. I still woke up around 12 am, 3 am which landed me back to spring cot.
Day 2: This time my Dad helped to tuck me to bed. And it took 30 minutes to do that (better than yesterday). I did awoke for feeding at 10 pm, and again at 4 am only for a cuddle. Seemed improving, indeed. My mom tuck me to bed again with the same method as the initial routine, until 5.30 am.
Day 3: I was asleep on my way back home. The time was 7.35 pm, almost my usual bedtime. Once my mom put me down to get changed, I awoke. And I woke up several times till midnight, might be because of my interrupted early sleep. But I managed to fussed a bit only at 12 am and 5 am.
Day 4: It was Friday, Dad's turn to tuck me to bed. It took about 30 minutes to put me to bed. I woke up again at 12 am and 4 am.
Day 5: I got home a bit late that day coz my parents had an appointment with Uncle Erwin. I got ready to bed around 8.50 pm but thanks God I only fussed for a minute! Still awoke again around midnight time and 5 am.
Day 6: Everything went quite smoothly, except the fact that I fussed several times even after I was actually slept in the crib. But I managed to woke up again only at 12.30 am and 4 am. I was soaking wet. My dad turned off the air-con, that's why. Thankfully I could continue sleeping until 6 am.
Day 7: It was just perfect, everything went on schedule. And a schedule for me too to wake up around 12.30 am and 4 am. It took 30 minutes to get me back to sleep using the ritual and finally I woke up again at 7.30 am.

Separation Anxiety, Another Milestone

Day 15: I got the third jab of pneumoccocal vaccine today. It didn't interfere my bedtime routine, though. I slept around 8.40 pm and did awoke 2 times until midnight time. Again at 3 am, I cried for my parents. Then at last my dad put me in the stroller, played some music to get me back to sleep until 6 am.
Day 16: My mom realized my night waking might be due to separation anxiety. My naps were ok, except I couldn't help crying whenever my parents were out of sight. That night was just like the other days, totally exhausted indeed with me resisting to be put in the spring cot or in the stroller with music.

"Bye Bye Binky" mission interfered by Teething

Day 8: After a family trip during the day, I got exhausted. That's why it took only a while to get me to sleep that night. But it took a numerous of hugs, cradles up to 1 am to keep me asleep. Dentinox teething gel didn't help much. Nor did the gripewater. At the end, I ended up in the spring cot till 6 am.
Day 9: After taking 2 teaspoon of gripewater (my parents realized the correct dose for my current age, finally), my mom tucked me in for half hour and succedeed! At 11.30 pm, I screamed and my mom fed me. I screamed again at 4 am (much better!) and my mom rocked me using the spring cot then. It helped me sleep again until 6 am.
Day 10: Maybe because it was a rainy day, I got easily sleepy even before 8 pm. After fussying a while and taking my last feeding, I soon slept peacefully. I awoke crying at 11 pm, 1 am, and 3.30 am. Again, I ended up in the spring cot.
Day 11: Same bedtime ritual, and ended up with 1-2 times crying at around 11 pm (short ones), and 2.30 am. My parents fed me with water mixed with milk and I dozed off until 5.30 am.
Day 12: This time it took a lot of effort to tuck me in, only by 9 pm I slept without regrets. Small fussines at 10.30 pm, and 2.45 am. After taking water with milk, I slept again until 6.00 am.
Day 13: It's Friday! My parents took me out that day for sushi bite, so my bedtime was 15 minutes late than usual. But I still could fall asleep shortly after a bit of rocking. But the nightmare appeared at 3.40 am, and kept me fussying a couple of times even though I was put in the spring cot. In the end, I only followed the daily activities, such as breakfast and morning bath.
Day 14: Everything seemed to be normal till midnight time. I awoke in pain, screamed out loud. My mom put some teething gel on my gums, and a few minutes later I settled down. But not for long. Around 3 am, I screamed again, calling either my dad or mom to comfort me. After I dozed off again, my parents put me back to the crib. It went on like that until 4.30 am, and I was put in the spring cot. But I kept on moving as if I felt uneasy. At 6.30 am, my mom gave up and asked my dad to comfort me till 7 am.

Bye Bye Binky : the journal

Day 1 : That day my mom tucked me in as usual around 8.30 pm. Soon, I slept peacefully in my crib. But an hour later, I became so fussy waiting my mom to plug in my pacifier to my mouth. But she didn't! It was quite like hell, really. My mom and dad took turns to rock me back to sleep instead of giving me that binky. Once I settled, my parents put me back in the crib, and pretty soon they need to pick me up again as I was screaming for my binky. It took about an hour or so to finally keep me calm until midnight. Later, the cycle continued at 1 am and 3 am, and in the end my mom gave up and gave me the binky, it worked like a charm!
Day 2: It was much much easier to get me to sleep, only needs a few rockings and cradles. But the midnight and after midnight tragedy happened again, just like yesterday. But this time, my mom was much prepared as my fussiness was lesser.
Day 3: my mom went to see a doctor and we (me and dad) accompanied her. That was around my bedtime, and I managed to sleep while being carried by my dad. My parents thought this time would be much easier, so they put me down and got me changed for night time sleep. Was it so? think again! I became so fussy instead. Even 2 times attempt to nurse me didn't help. I screamed almost every hour that night. Around 2 am, my mom gave up and put me in the spring cot and attended to me until 5 am.
Day 4:Just like yesterday, we all went out to the library and do grocery shopping afterwards around my bedtime . And the same story happened when my parents wanted to put me, who was sleeping peacefully on my mom's arms, to the crib. This time round, my mom tried to distract me with toys when I became fully awake. I played with them on the bed for a while, and not long after that I became fussy wanting to sleep. Hugs and gentle rock finally made me slept completely. Well, not totally. From 1 am to 2.30 am, my mom did this cycle : picked me up, settled me down, put me back on the crib. I was fussy enough to make my mom frustrated and broke down to tears. My dad then put me in the spring cot and stayed with me till 5.30 am.
Day 5:The ritual began. It took about an hour and a half to put me to bed. My mom and dad decided to put me in the crib without the waterproof changing mat. Then a couple of times I cried and settled down eventually around 12 am without the need of night feeding at all (I refused to suck the teat offered). After that, my mom took off my ankle bracelet as the sound of it would alert me anytime. And it worked! I cried again at 4.30 am, being fed, and dozed off until 6 am.
Day 6:It was Friday, and dad decided to tuck me in to bed without having my mom's help. It was a struggle, he said. It took 30 minutes of crying to finally settle me down to sleep. Thereafter, I woke up crying 2-3 times until midnight. I was cranky somewhere around 3 am. My dad and mom took turned to get me back to sleep for an hour. Then I snoozed until 6 am for a feeding.
Day 7:This time, my parents noticed my second tooth (the central incisor) pusing through the gum line. That explained my fussiness, finally! (more than just wanting the pacifier back!). Just like the other days, my bedtime routine began and followed by the same fussiness pattern. At 2.30 am, my mom put me in the spring cot. Around 5 am, my dad let my mom slept for a while and took her role (swung the net!). And 5.30 am, I alerted both of them with my fussiness. A bottle of milk couldn't settle me down. Only later around 7 am, my mom fed me some wheat porridge with additional a teaspoon of gripewater, and managed to get me back to sleep in the spring cot again.
To be continued............

Signs of Teething

It's been 3 days I keep on refusing food. Poop 4 times a day, awake at 1 am, 3 am, and 5 am. Perhaps those are the signs of teething (although I have already got one incisor at the central bottom)
My Sleep disturbances often go hand-in-hand with reaching major milestones in cognitive and motor development and with separation anxiety. As you may know, I have been doing lots of exercise to be able to sit. Hopefully, it won't be long to finally mastering it!
